For more than a year, Mathias Eichler and I partnered in a local media company, Einmaleins, centered in Olympia, Wash. We launched several websites, applications and events in our business’ effort to “put Olympia on the map” and connect its community using modern communication technology.
I designed and developed “Einmaleins TV,” local broadcast network that produced original video and audio programming about Olympia, tourism, outdoor sports and business. I also produced and hosted the network’s media content.
Einmaleins TV sports a responsive website, powered by a custom ExpressionEngine build to power the backend, that uses Javascript, HTML5 and CSS3 to deliver a first-class video and audio experience on any web-browsing device.
I also designed and developed ArtsWalkOlympia.com, an adaptive, location-aware web application that served as the de-facto source for Olympia’s largest and most popular recurring event. The application’s backend allowed Einmaleins to manage hundreds of locations and Arts Walk events, which were easily discovered on the public website. It also included an interactive map that displayed every event relative to the user’s location and current time at the two-day festival.
Einmaleins also produces an Olympia news and commentary website, “Everyday Olympia,” which I designed and developed, as well. And across all of Einmaleins’ properties, our company managed an advertising network – Einmaleins Blend – for web, video and audio promotional material.
